Top 5 Tips for Team Captains:

1. Pick a team name; there’s a prize for the best themed team at each Swimathon.
2. Gather a team together: this could be made up of friends, family, work colleagues or club-mates. There’s no limit to the number of swimmers you should have on your team, but consider swimming strengths and the amount of laps team members would like to cover over 12 hours (most teams have between 6 and 15 swimmers).
3. Start fundraising! The MS Swimathon exists to raise money to support people living with MS in your local area. We ask each swimmer to try and raise a minimum of $250 and we’ll provide you with a stack of resources and support to help you along the way. With a little effort, $250 can be easily raised by most people.
4. Plan your day – in the weeks prior to the Swimathon it’s time to work out a roster for your swimmers, decide on whether you want to dress up, decorate your team retreat or even come armed with a war-cry.
5. Come along early and enjoy the day: many people make a whole day of it (or night in the case of those of you in Cairns). Bring along some shade, something to sit on and maybe some food (most events have food to purchase at the pool). There are lots of fun activities and the famous MS Swimathon playlist will keep you going through the 12 hours.

As a Team Captain, we recommend that you prepare a swimming roster with your team. Click on the relevant pool location to download a template.
