Team Tips

At our Swimathons the teams that achieve fantastic fundraising results are those that have a great sense of team spirit.
We’ve put together some great team tips to help you boost your team spirit.

THEME YOUR TEAM

There’s no better way to build excitement and team spirit then choosing a theme for your team. Encourage your team members to come dressed up and theme your swimming lane or team retreat area.

Can’t think of a theme? Ask for your teams’ input. You may be surprised at the great ideas your team members have. Decide as a team a theme that everyone is happy with. This will not only increase your team spirit but also increase their enthusiasm for event day!

Examples of themes we have had in our Swimathons:

CELEBRATE WINS – BIG AND SMALL

Great teams find ways to celebrate victories both big and small.  Celebration builds momentum.  Acknowledge those who get great donations and praise those who are working hard on their fundraising.

Team building isn’t just about doing laps and training, get your team out of the pool and do something as a team. Build your team spirit with:

As team captain or even a team member, set a dare or incentive for your team. If the fundraising goal is met you will:

We’re sure people will donate money to see these dares happen!

Send us an email and tell us what you’re going to do! We’d love to hear from you.

KEEP THE GOAL IN FRONT OF YOU

The MS Swimathons are much more than just a fun day in the pool, our ultimate goal is to raise funds to make a real difference in the lives of people living with MS. This is why we’re swimming. Constantly keep your fundraising goal in front of your team as well as reminding your team members about who they’re really swimming for.

If your team have hit their goal… bump it up! Would your friends and family sponsor your team if you had a goal of $200 or $2000?

CHALLENGE & INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES

Keep your team members accountable and ask them how they are doing with their fundraising. Share a story of a person with MS to inspire and remind them of why we are swimming. With a friendly nudge, you can help motivate your team members to go that extra mile to make a real difference for people living with MS.

Why not send an email, Facebook message or SMS to your team mates and ask them how their fundraising efforts are going?

Include an inspiriting quote, here’s a few to get you started:

“Teamwork is the secret that makes common people achieve uncommon results” Ifeanyi Onuoha

“Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean”. Ryunosuke Satoro

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world” – Margaret Mead

And everybody’s favourite “T.E.A.M. = Together Everyone Achieves More!”
