Penelope was diagnosed with MS in 2015 when she was just 41 years old. She is a wife, mother to two amazing teenagers and at the time, she was completing her teaching degree.
She experienced a range of symptoms before her diagnosis- she walked into walls, had awful fatigue, headaches, tingles in her fingers and memory issues. At the time, Penelope compared her symptoms to someone ‘unplugging her brain.’
‘I had no idea what MS was at the time, so I quickly found out.’
In the early stages after her diagnosis, Penelope’s had a major impact on her life, stopping her from completing her degree. She felt as though the fatigue and cognitive effects were too much, she was unable to complete her coursework.
Since her diagnosis in 2015, Penelope and her family have adapted the motto ‘Help others that need it.’
Today, Penelope’s symptoms have improved greatly, and she has recently started her own business! She is also an extremely active member in her community, getting involved in many of our MS Queensland events.
